Finely cast patinated bronze sculpture titled Setter with Bird by renowned 19th-century French sculptor Jules Moigniez. The work depicts a realistic hunting dog proudly carrying a game bird in its mouth, frozen in motion with one paw raised and tail extended. This naturalistic composition is celebrated for its anatomical precision and dynamic posture. Jules Moigniez was a French animalier sculptor highly regarded for his lifelike representations of dogs, horses, birds, and game animals. Born in Senlis, France, Moigniez studied under Paul Comolera, himself a student of the legendary Francois Rude. Moigniez debuted at the Paris Salon in 1855 and gained international acclaim for his detailed bronzes, often cast by his father's foundry. His works are characterized by a high degree of finish, elegant composition, and expressive energy. Moigniez's sculptures are housed in museums and prestigious collections across Europe and North America. Signed J. Moigniez on the base and affixed to a veined black marble plinth with a brass title plaque. The surface retains a deep brown patina that highlights the rich textural detail of the dog's fur and the bird's feathers.
