Noted bass (1819–1876) who created major roles in ‘L’Africaine’ and ‘Hamlet.’ Original 2.25 x 4 full-length carte-de-visite photo of Belval in costume as Don Pedro from L’Africaine by Erwin of Paris, signed and inscribed on the reverse in black ink, “L’amiral Don Pedro a son ami Berthier, J. Belval.” In fine condition, with a bit of light soiling to reverse.
