Lovely vintage matte-finish 10 x 13 photo of Garland looking skyward, signed and inscribed in blue ink to pianist, comedian, and composer Oscar Levant, “For Oscar—Our friendship is the most precious thing I have. May it last forever. Love always, Yours, Judy.” In fine condition, with some light contrast to closing of inscription and signature, and a bit of scattered light silvering. Accompanied by the original Sotheby Parke Bernet mailing envelope. Garland met Levant in 1938 and quickly became enamoured with him. Although their relationship never progressed past friendship, they would share their deepest feelings including those about stage fright and other trying experiences. A magnificent photo between to performers who shared many of the emotional troubles.
