Journey into Mystery #83 Diamond Run pedigree (Marvel, 1962) CGC VF/NM 9.0 White pages. One of the elite keys among the comic books from the early 1960s, that re-established Marvel as a worthy rival of DC, this famous issue introduced the Mighty Thor by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Kirby's brilliant cover ranks among the most memorable of his illustrious career. The milestone issue also includes a backup story by Steve Ditko. The ninth most valuable Silver Age book, according to the 2004 Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, this is one of the harder keys to find in high grade. In fact, it's difficult enough finding a copy without Marvel chipping or edge tears. But don't take our word for it -- CGC currently lists over 200 copies of Journey Into Mystery #83 in its census, with just one copy at NM+ 9.6, three copies at NM 9.4, and two copies at NM- 9.2 with higher grades than this pedigree beauty. And none of those has nicer page quality. We have offered a higher-graded copy on only one occasion. This is one of our most prized offerings for this auction. Overstreet 2004 VF/NM 9.0 value = $6,500; NM- 9.2 value = $9,000.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
