One of Schon’s personally-owned and stage-used electric guitars. Custom-built Paul Reed Smith sunburst-finish Artist II model electric guitar, serial no. 522858, was made in 1995 and features attractive inlays on the headstock and Brazilian rosewood fretboard. This guitar was used on stage during the band’s December 2000 concert in Las Vegas, shortly before the release of their 2001 album entitled Arrival. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Schon, copies of photos of Schon holding the guitar and playing it on stage, and a copy of the 2001 DVD of the Vegas concert with Schon playing the guitar through much of the show, including ‘Separate Ways,’ and ‘Wheel in the Sky.’ Paul Reed Smith guitars are highly regarded in the music world, with Schon using them for several years. Stage-used instruments from legendary bands such as Journey are quite rare, especially one built by a preeminent guitar maker, with iron-clad provenance from the musician himself.
