Cumulative wear along the edges seems to be the reason. A big bonus on this copy is the white page quality. The Mighty Thor debuts in this issue with his first appearance and origin story, the same month that Spider-Man first appeared in <B>Amazing Fantasy</B></I>. Jack Kirby's cover is one of comics' most recognizable. Kirby did the Thor origin story, while Steve Ditko contributed art on another feature. Overstreet 2006 VG 4.0 value = $970; FN 6.0 value = $1,455.
