Maine-born Union major general (1828–1914) who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his defense of Little Round Top at Gettysburg. He later served as Governor of Maine and president of Bowdoin College. DS, one page both sides, 10.75 x 6.75, February 16, 1889. A handsomely engraved certificate for one hundred shares of stock in the New Jersey Construction Company, issued to Edward Crane, signed by Chamberlain as president. Light vertical folds (one touching signature), otherwise clean, fine condition.
