Joshua Chamberlain Memorial Display. This impressive display was put together by R.J. Helmicki to honor General Joshua Chamberlain. Chamberlain was born in 1828 and was a general in the Union Army. He was wounded six times in twenty-four engagements. He gained the rank of brigadier general and even received a Medal of Honor for his valor and bravery at Gettysburg. He was also present at the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. After his service in the Civil War he was elected governor of Maine and held that office until 1871. He passed away at 86 years of age. The display features Chamberlain's uniformed photograph, a Colt revolver replica, a Union Army belt buckle, and several pieces of regalia from a Union uniform. Featured also is a replica of a shoulder patch from Chamberlain's regiment, the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry. Chamberlain was the last Civil War soldier to die of wounds incurred during battle. A wonderful display to honor this fantastic general! 24" x 16".
