Empress of France, born Joséphine de Beauharnais (1763–1814). Married Napolean in 1796 and divorced in 1810, unable to produce an heir. Endorsement in French, signed “Josephine,” in the top left corner of a one page manuscript document, in French, 8 x 12, October 27, 1812. A petition submitted by Antoine Buffin to Comte Francois Mollien, Napoleon’s Minister of Finance, seeking assistance. Josephine endorses the petitioner and personally requests Mollien to assist him. In very good condition, with slight mounting remnants along reverse left edge, light intersecting folds, scattered light creases, and a bit of mild edge toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition. A nicely preserved document from one of history’s most intriguing women!.
