Clip point blade, 10 1/8" long, with an unsharpened clip. Diamond shaped German silver steel cross guard, with round quillion balls, 2 5/8" long and 3/4" wide. Left ricasso is marked "V (crown) R/JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS/6 NORFOLK STREET/ SHEFFIELD/ *+". Two piece stag handle, with two grip rivets at top and bottom of full tang handle and a escutcheon on left side. Leather sheath, with metal tip and throat, with leather belt loop and a taped note marked "WM BESWICK/ CARRIED IN THE CIVIL WAR 1861" on the left side. Includes National Archives research listing the knife as having belonged to William Beswick, Co. G 17 Illinois Infantry. OAL: 15".

Condition: Good, with cleaned blade. Blade still retains some light spotting along edge, with minor pitting overall. Light scratches on blade. Handle is very good, with light wear. Sheath is also good, with light scuffing on leather. Note is taped to left and has discolored with age. Metal throat has some spotting and there is some verdigris along edge of tip where it meets the leather.
