Jewish-American journalist and newspaper publisher (1847–1911) who established the Pulitzer Prize 'for the encouragement of public service, public morals, American literature, and the advancement of education.' Uncommon partly-printed DS, one page, 8 x 6.75, January 15, 1901. Pulitzer appoints F. D. White "to vote as my proxy at a meeting of the Pulitzer Publishing Company, St. Louis, on Monday, Jan. 21, 1901." Signed at the conclusion in ink by Pulitzer and countersigned by a notary. In fine condition. Florence D. White, hired as a reporter by Pulitzer when he was 16, was then serving as General Manager of Pulitzer's New York World.
