Joseph McCarthy Signed Radio Transcription.
Joseph McCarthy Signed Radio Transcription. Five pages, 8.5” x 14”. The content is dynamite in this transcription of a radio speech broadcast by Radio Station WIND on January 15, 1956, two years after the Red-hunting McCarthy (1908-1957) was censured by the United States Senate. Delivered in the twilight of his life - he died the following year - this speech proves that the former Senator had lost none of his anti-Communist fervor. Referring to liberal politicians as “New Deal ‘quacks’,” McCarthy typically speaks of the evils of “international Communism” and refers to the Cold War as “the third world war.” He says in part: “The only way to defeat Communism is to exert against the Communist empire the same unrelenting pressures the Communists, day in and day out, exert against the Free World. The Communists understand power, and will respond to power. …We should give our loyal allies, our fighting allies, all the financial aid we can spare; and we should encourage them to attempt to liberate their homelands”. Originally folded, the document is in fine condition, stapled in the top left corner, and signed boldly by McCarthy in the upper right corner on the first page. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
