Cattle Country GOLD comprised of a Watch, Badge, Pin and Chain owned by Joseph Maull Carey ( 1845 - 1924). Mr. Carey was Territorial Attorney, Mayor of Cheyenne, Chief Justice, Wyoming Governor, Senator and the President of the Wyoming Stock Growers Assn. The infamous "Cheyenne Club" made up of 200 hand picked barons of the time was the group of men Mr. Carey colaborated with to conduct business that encompasseed the existence of the Stock Growers Assn. All 4 artifacts are safely kept in their original leather case with gold inscription on the lid. Each item is in Excellent condition. The watch is a Howard from Boston, Mass. and runs beautifully. With this wonderful collection comes a 100 year old autographed photo of Mr. Carey when he was governor of Wyoming as well as an original booklet with a list of members and the by-laws of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association from 1887. As a bonus, the winning bidder will receive a portfoillo put together with news clippings about Mr. Carey including one when he was elected to the Cowboy Hall of Fame. Without question, this is a very important piece of Old West History and belongs in a museum or a well advanced collection.
