Army physician (1817–1883) who served as the army’s surgeon general from 1864 to 1882. ALS signed “J. K. Barnes, Surg, Genl. U. S. A.,” one page both sides, 4.5 x 7, Surgeon General’s Office letterhead, March 1, 1875. Letter to Senator Henry B. Anthony. In part: “Will you not try to press the Resolution for printing the report on Asiatic Cholera…The material is all ready and to delay printing until next session would occasion much inconvenience and incur additional expense.” Second integral page is professionally inlaid into a slightly larger sheet. In fine condition, with slight irregular ink adhesion.
