Hungarian violinist and composer (1831–1907) ranked second only to Paganini among 19th-century virtuosi. ALS in German, one page, 5.5 x 8.75, December 25, no year. Letter to a friend, in full (translated): “May I take this opportunity, despite the holiday, to refresh your memory about Lewandowsky whose merits are best expressed in the enclosed letter. Will it be possible still to send a message to the celebrant in time for the ceremony on the 27th? May I expect a word about this—perhaps on a postcard?” In fine condition, with light horizontal bends and some trivial creasing and erased pencil notations to left corners. Accompanied by an unsigned modern photo.
