Letter to Senator Roger Sherman Baldwin. In part: “Your letter of the 17th Inst. to the Secretary of War enclosing a letter to you from Saml Russell Esqr., on the subject of a Cadet appointment for young DeKoven, aged 15, had been referred to this Department, and, in reply, I have the honor to inform you that he is too young, as you will observe from the enclosed copy of the regulations for the admission.” In fine condition, with two tiny tears to left edge. Accompanied by the three-page printed pamphlet mentioned, entitled ‘Regulations relative to the Admission of Cadets into the Military Academy.’
