Politician (1836–1926) who served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1903 to 1911, considered to be the most dominant Speaker in US history. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 11 photo of Cannon in a tuxedo and top hat, signed and inscribed in the lower border in black ink to New York Times Washington correspondent Charles Michael, “To my friend Chas. R. Michael with best wishes, J. G. Cannon, March 4, 1923.” Double matted and framed to an overall size of 12.75 x 16. In very good condition, with a couple scattered light creases to image and dampstaining and slight surface loss lightly affecting portions of signature and inscription.
