<B>Joseph E. Johnston Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>J.E. Johnston.</B></I>" Two pages, 5" x 8", Washington D.C., February 5, 1886. The letter is written to a C.S. Hart Esq., it explains Johnston's regret that he is unable to help Hart run for political office. Joseph E. Johnston was one of the most senior generals for the Confederacy during the Civil War, and after the war ended he served as Commissioner of Railroads under Grover Cleveland. <BR><BR>The letter is in very good condition; slightly soiled on the edges; usual folds are present; separation occurring on the vertical fold.
