Abbott</B></I>" and "<I>J.C.A.</B></I>" four pages, Concord, New Hampshire, June 26, 1861, reporting on preparations for recruiting, and the funeral of "<I>...Walker, a Lieut. in Mouton's Reg. who as you have probably heard fell from the cars in new jersey and was killed. It was has been a melancholy day. The Home Guards, the Horse Guards, the Knight Templars of Concord and Boston, the Governor & Council and the legislature all turned out. The body was laid in State in the rotunda of the State House, and there was a great display. It was indeed splendid... there was a rumor flying about town that your Reg. had attacked the battery opposite you. A man came in and told me of it. I ... said that twenty five of your men were killed, but, said he, 'they took the battery' as if cared nothing at all about the killed.
