Union general (1828–1895) who was distinguished for gallantry at Gettysburg, where he was wounded, but his men held their ground near the Peach Orchard. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by an anonymous studio, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Yours truly, Jos B. Carr.” In very good condition, with trimmed top edge, clipped bottom corners, some light toning and soiling, and surface loss to reverse.
