Josefa Carson's Sewing Kit. 7" x 2 ¾" leather sewing box with red silk lining and an attached 7" pouch. The box contains several sewing tools with bone or ivory handles. Josefa Carson (1828-1868) was Kit Carson's wife. They wed in 1843 and had eight children together. (est. $6,000-9,000). Provenance: Josepha Carson (1828-1868), by descent to his son "Kit" Carson II (1858-1929), by decent to his daughter Nettie Guadalupe Carson (1905-?), by sale to Ralph Meyers (1885-1948), by descent to his wife Rowena Meyers Martinez (1909-2000), by descent to her son Ouray Meyers (b. 1941).
