Enigmatic and important Hollywood director (1894–1969) credited with polishing Marlene Dietrich into a glamorous, sensuous star. He directed her in the masterpiece Blue Angel. Vintage fountain pen signature, “Josef von Sternberg,” on an off-white 5 x 2 slip clipped from a document or letter. In fine condition, with mild wrinkling along top edge, and a diagonal vertical crease running through one letter of the signature.
