BiographyJosef Presser (1907-1967) was born Lublin Poland. At the age of 12 he came to Boston, Massachusetts, and received a scholarship to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He was recognized as a boy genius at school, where he spent four years. After graduating, he traveled and studied in Europe, always with a sketchbook in hand. Upon returning to the U.S., he set up a studio in New York City, and later married and moved to Woodstock, NY, becoming member of the Maverick Artist Colony. His work has been exhibited at various institutions, including the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Josef Presser spent his last 3 years living and working in Paris. He became an Honorary member of Cercle Litte raire et Artistique, Bruxelles, Belgium. Presser's art can be found in many public and private collections throughout the world.
