Two figural compositions are printed in this print next to one another on the landscape-format sheet. On the left an expressively executed head is to see in close-up. On the right is shown a combination of a large, male nude, extending diagonally across the image area, and a small female nude figure.

The lithograph in colors is dedictaed, signed and dated lower right in pencil ‘für Josef Kovacs den 1. Assistenten Josef Felix Müller 88‘. The sheet bears a sharp but unobtrusive crease (16.5 cm) extending from the lower edge with an associating small tear (1.3 cm). The overall impression is good. The full sheet image measures 67.3 x 103.3 cm.

Josef Felix Müller (geb. 1955)

The artist, born in the swiss town of Eggersriet, first completed a training as embroidery designer from 1971 to 1975. His artistic training took place autodidactic. The human body is the core theme of his works which are somtimes so sexually charged that they provoked a confiscation because of ‘obscene publication’ in 1988. Beside paintings origin since 1981 also sculptures out of tree trunks, which the artist works on with ax and chainsaw, and an extensive graphical work comprising woodcuts, etchings and lithographs. Josef Felix Müller lives and works in St. Gallen, Switzerland. (fea)
