Gouache on 9.75 x 12.5” chocolate-brown illustration paper by de Zamora(1889-1971) of African-American exotic entertainer Josephine Baker, at the height of her stage success in Paris. Design is for a white fur-trimmed sheath dress, and included is a black and white Xerox image of Baker wearing what appears to be the finalized dress. Signed with paintbrush in the gold color that accents the dress design. Piece is tipped into a 16 x 20” decorative double mat for display, and is in Excellent condition.
