The modern day city of Mata Ortiz, is located roughly 4.5 hours south of El Paso, Texas, and is in close proximity to the Casa Grandes archeological site, this geographic location attributes the Mata Ortiz pottery to the family of Pueblo pottery. showing influence from Arizona, as well as New Mexico. This piece is signed on the bottom with Jose M. Martinez. The jar is in good condition. The piece measures 3 7/8" tall, and 3 1/2" wide.
