Jose Cisneros/Lowman Collection. The Cisneros portion of this catalog consists of 222 entries and includes the limited edition of John M. Carroll's The Black Military Experience in the American West, complete with the two prints that accompanied the edition (see item 130). After this length of time, it should be no surprise that, in most instances, those prints have become separated from the book. This, however, is the complete unit. The next rarity is an immaculate set of Carlos Castaneda's Our Catholic Heritage (item 137). Another item representing Cisneros at mid-career is Historia del Templo de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, published in 1953 by the authors, Alcazar de Velasco and Cleofas Calleros (item 170). Of particular note is a complete run of an important journal from pre-World War II days, Picturesque Southwest (item 250). As in the case of each illustrator, the section ends with a selection of prints and original artwork by Cisneros. Courtesy of Al Lowman, San Marcos. Consigned Lot

This 2006 March Texas State Historical Association Charity Auction is being held in Austin, TX on February 12 - March 4, 2006.
