In José Manuel Ballester’s works, the boundaries between photography and painting are blurred. The photograph ‘Galeria 2’ from 1999 depicts a black and white seeming view through a window of an opposing exterior wall. A native of Madrid, José Manuel Ballester (b. 1960) is a master of contemporary photography.



The photograph is verso signed in felt pen ‘”Galeria 2” 1999, Fotografia / Papel Fuji Professional, Presentacion: Metacrilato Siliconado, PH Neutro, 49,5 x 68,7, 2/3 Ejemplares, J.M. Ballester’. A copy of a signed certificate of the artist is enclosed. The work is in very good condition with partial, small traces of glue in the upper central area. The frame displays minimal traces of wear. The dimensions are framed 48.9 x 68.9 cm.



José Manuel Ballester (b. 1960)

José Manuel Ballester graduated in 1984 from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid with a diploma in Fine Arts. At the beginning of his artistic career, he created paintings in the style of the Italian and Flemish School of the 15th and 18th century. Since 1990, he combines his paintings with photographic techniques and increasingly focused on architectural photography. His works were already part of international exhibitions. Ballester was awarded the Spanish Photo Prize in 2010. (tm)
