Mayhew Wainwright,” two pages, personal letterhead, in part: “I almost feel that I know you. As I have told you, your letter to me when I was in Jap. prison camp on Farmosa, was the first word I had from the U.S., nearly two years after my capture.” Second and third are two TLSs, each one page, Headquarters Fourth Army letterhead, one acknowledges an autograph request and the other sends thanks for a cover sent to his wife, both signed “J. M. Wainwright,” with the latter bearing a handwritten postscript, “When I was a Prisoner of War I had a card from you which I appreciated and replied to. Thank you so much. JMW.” Lastly is the Christmas card with an image of the Fourth Army Quadrangle clock tower on the front, signed inside below a pre-printed holiday greeting in fountain pen, “J. M. Wainwright.” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes.
