The Johnson-Jeffries fight was considered the "Fight of the Century" in 1910 held in Reno. Jeffries (white) and Johnson (African American) fought for 15 rounds and Johnson knocked out Jeffries. At the time, Nevada held all the huge fights. With Carrie Nation causing a stir in eastern US, the only open place for betting and booze was Nevada. This group has twelve original photo post cards from a single photographic studio. First, Jeffries is represented on four cards, sitting in a car by Dana Photo (J129), and three posed fighter athletic shots by the Dana Studio in San Francisco (J 17, J20, J25). Next, Johnson is represented by five different cards. Three are posed fighter athletic shots by the Dana Studio (Jo-1,3,7) and another card with Johnson and manager in front of a car and training quarters (Jo 10), the last card of Johnson and his training crew on the road (Jo 9); the last 2 cards are of the fight itself on July 4, 1910 (J144) and a "training fight between Jeffires and Corbett (J40) and a promo photo of Jeffries and other great boxers etc including Corbett, who fought in Carson City about 1897 against Fitzsimmons. These are in excellent condition, no folds, or discoloration, perfectly preserved. City: Reno State: Nevada Date:
