Johnson Automatics Model 1941 Semi-Automatic Rifle

Melvin Johnson started work on this design in 1935 after being a Marine Corps observer at Springfield Armory. His work led to this rifle in 1939. These rifles were tested alongside the M1 Garand. The Garand was adopted by the Army in early 1940 and by the Marines in early 1941. They acquired some of these rifles from the Netherlands Purchasing Comission and used them in the Soloman islands. Having the unique features of a quickly removable barrel and a rotary magazine which could easily and quickly be loaded with either a single round or with stripper clips. Very good as partially refinished, the barrel retains 95% plus of the blue finish with scratches and dings near the front sight base pins. The parkerized components retain 90% of the dark green parkerized finish with some areas of brown patina. The sanded, reoiled wood is fine with scattered dings, scratches and chips. Mechanically very good, but the bolt doesn't lock back and could use a good cleaning.
