Drummer boy in the Union Army who gained fame for his bravery on the battlefield (1851–1937) and was the last Civil War veteran to remain in active duty, retiring in 1915. Postcard depicting Ford’s Theatre, 3.5 x 5.5, signed near the bottom in blue ink, “Jno. L. Clem, Col. Q. M. Corps US Army.” Below his signature is a collector’s notation in black ink, “The Drummer Boy.” In fine condition, with surface rubbing at the bottom.
