John Wayne's personally owned cargo field pack used onscreen during filming of the hit 1968 film, ''The Green Berets'' which Wayne directed and starred in, and which was released at the height of Vietnam. U.S. Army field pack was most likely used onscreen, as most all of the props and costumes, even weapons, used during filming were provided by the U.S. Army. Wayne wrote to President Johnson seeking his advice and asking for support in adapting Robin Moore's book with the same title to the screen. Apparently, Wayne received support from the U.S. Department of Defense, which lent all kinds of supplies and props. ''M-1945'' olive green-colored cargo field pack has ''U.S.'' printed on front of flap with additional manufacturer's imprint underneath flap, as well as ''A-46'', and ''Roman'' written on the side of bag in ink. Inside of bag has a vinyl lining with a set of instructions printed in cloth and sewn to the inside of lining, measuring 9'' x 6.75''. Pack measures 15'' x 12'' and is 5'' deep and includes a COA from John Wayne Enterprises. Near fine condition.
