John Wayne Received Large Group of Western Union Telegrams (1976-1979). A large collection of Western Union telegrams from the 1970s (ranging in date from 1976 to 1979) mostly sent to Wayne. These were sent to various hospitals (though some are congratulatory for his Congressional Gold Medal or birthday wishes) from his many famous friends who wished him well including (in alphabetical order): Spiro Agnew, Steve Allen, Gene Autry, Ernest Borgnine, George Burns, James Cagney, Rory Calhoun, Gloria De Haven, Glenn Ford, Barry Goldwater, Billy Graham, William Holden, Bob Hope, Patricia Neal, George Peppard, Martha Raye, Frank Sinatra, Red Skelton, Steven Spielberg, Rod Steiger, James Stewart, Elizabeth Taylor, Hal Wallis, Raoul Walsh, Barbara Walters, and Natalie Wood, among a few others; some in particular are very funny like the ones from Burns and Peppard; a wonderful record of correspondence amongst friends that sadly does not exist in today's digital era.

Each measure 5 ½" x 8 ½". Overall, in Very Good Plus condition with some folds, tears, toning and creasing (a portion in the upper left corner is missing on the one from the Sinatras). Originally sold by Heritage in 2011.
