DS as president, one page, 9 x 13, October 10, 1843. Tyler pardons an imprisoned former postmaster, “convicted of a violation of the Post Office laws, and sentenced to ten years imprisonment.” In part: “Now, therefore, I, John Tyler, President of the United States of America…do hereby pardon him the said Benjamin Demyer, and order that he be discharged from imprisonment.” Double-matted with a small portrait to an overall size of 14 x 22. In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one passing through Tyler’s very bold signature, a small vertical tear, and light soiling. The white paper seal is intact.
