John Tyler: Extremely Rare Land Grant Actually Signed by the President. During Jackson's presidency, the sitting chief executives stopped the practice of personally signing land grants, allowing secretaries to do so in their stead. Only a handful are known that later presidents signed personally, including this 1844 example by John Tyler. No history has survived to explain why the president chose to sign this particular document. Excellent condition, with fine large signature. Expensively custom-framed along with an 1842 Currier print of the presidents up through Tyler, itself valued at around $250. Approximately 11.25" x 13.75", framed to 19" x 37.5".

Shipping: Framed - with Glass, Medium (view shipping information)
