Manuscript DS, signed “John Tyler - 100 copies,” one page, 7.5 x 6.25, 1836. Partial order form for "Mr. Calhoun's Speech on the Special Message, Jan. 19, 1836." In part: "The undersigned agree to take the number of copies annexed to their names of the above Speech, in neat pamphlet form, from the Office of Gales & Seaton, at two dollars per hundred copies." In very good condition, with a tear to the top edge, and staining from old mounting remnants on the back. Gales and Seaton were the official printers to Congress, where John Tyler and John C. Calhoun were both serving as senators. In 1844, President Tyler would appoint Calhoun as his secretary of state.
