British illustrator (1820–1914) best known for his collaborations with Lewis Carroll on the Alice in Wonderland books. Original 4 x 6.5 cabinet three-quarter-length portrait of Tenniel, signed and inscribed in white ink, “To Mrs. Stirrow, With kindest regards, John Tenniel, 1886.” Published by the London Stereoscopic Company. Trimmed edges and corners, and signature a couple shades light, otherwise fine condition.
