Politician and writer (1753–1824) known for his works that provided inspiration to the later states' rights and libertarian movements. ALS signed “John Taylor,” one page both sides, 6.75 x 8, November 18, 1789. Letter to Attorney General Charles Lee. In part: “Baker came to court & obtained a verdict against Lithgow…without my observing it…but upon enquiring after the cause, I found it out in half an hour, and…smelt out Bullitt as knowing something of Triplett’s hand writing…I kicked up the devil of a dust, set Baker’s verdict aside and the cause was continued until the next court. Judge Bullitt’s recollection of Triplett’s hand writing does not seem too me to be sufficiently decisive.” In fine condition, with a small edge chip.
