American politician (1823–1900), longtime United States senator and author of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. ALS, one page, 5 x 8, Mansfield, Ohio letterhead, November 17, 1891. Letter to Frank H. Bristow. In part: “The best photograph of me that is accessible can be had at Rockwood’s gallery.” Professionally inlaid into a slightly larger sheet. One horizontal fold passing through the signature, overall toning, and light scattered soiling, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned original carte-de-visite portrait of Sherman by Brady.
