Sartain (1808–1897) was an artist who pioneered mezzotint engraving in the United States, Cope (1797-1888) was a major merchant and financier. Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts check, 7 x 3.25, filled out in another hand and signed by Sartain and Caleb Cope, “C. Cope,” payable to Godfrey Krouse for $13.00, March 15, 1870. In fine condition.
