This is an original 1865 Territory of Montana, Madison County money order from the Treasurer to John S. Lott for $50. Joh S. Lott led the Vigilante Party that hung Henry Plummer, Ned Ray and Buck Stinson at Bannack, Montana Territory, January 10, 1864. John was born in 1830 and was prominently involved in the vigilante movement. He composed the vigilantes' oath of allegiance an served as a juror during the trial of George Ives. Thisis hand signed by Lott and is an Important Montana Historical Document. This comes with information on Lot. The slip measures 2.75"x6.75"
