Controversial Confederate general (1827-1901) charged with cowardice during the Battle of Fredericksburg. War-dated ink signature, “Hd. qt. 1st Div., Oct. 24th/62, appmt & respt forward, J. R. Jones, Brig. Gen, Comdg Div.,” on a blue 3 x 1.5 lightly-lined slip cut from a larger document. In fine condition, with light residue on the front touching portions of his handwriting.
