ALS signed “John Q. Adams,” one page, 6 x 7.75, March 29, 1792. Letter to Josiah Little reporting Mr. Barrell will not pay a debt. In part: “I received…your favour requesting to be informed, whether the money has yet been paid by Mr. Barrell; and I am sorry to say that it has not; but that he has on the contrary expressed his intention, not to pay it until the last moment that the delays of legal compulsion will allow…[I]f he should not obtain a continuance, nor appeal to the Supreme Court, your Execution will be returnable the third Tuesday in April; before which time I fear you cannot in any manner recover the money…” Integral second page bears an address panel in Adams’s hand. In fine condition, with intersecting folds (one through a single letter of signature), some light toning, and paper loss to second page from seal.
