Boston: American Stationers' Company, 1836. Softcover bound in green paper wrappers, 5.25 x 8.5, 90 pages. Signed and inscribed on the front wrapper in ink, "George N. Briggs, Esq'r, from John Quincy Adams." In this eloquent remembrance of the America's fourth president, John Quincy Adams offers a biographical sketch of James Madison focused on his service to the nation, especially his contributions as the "father of the Constitution." Autographic condition: fine, with a central vertical fold passing through the inscription and signature. Book condition: VG/None, with the rear wrapper missing, curling to lower right corner of the front wrapper and first several pages, an "Edward and Charity Martin" bookplate affixed inside the front wrapper, and a "Library of Lawrence E. Miller" blindstamp to the last page. Accompanied by a custom-made presentation folder with gilt spine titling.
