Politician elected mayor of New York City at age 34, sometimes called the ‘Boy Mayor of New York’ (1879–1918). Vintage glossy 7.75 x 9.5 mayoral campaign portrait of Mitchel taken in 1913 by Campbell Studio, signed and inscribed in fountain pen to the business manager of the New York Times, “To Louis Wiley, With assurance of esteem, Cordially yours, John Purroy Mitchel.” Affixed to a slightly larger mount. In fine condition. An interesting association between New York notables.
