<B>John J. Pershing and George Gay Typed Letters Signed.</B></I> Pershing: one page, 7" x 9", General of the Armies letterhead, Washington, D.C., September 24, 1924, to General George H. Harries. A letter of thanks for a telegram of greetings from his old friend, signed at close. Very fine condition; mailing fold. <BR><BR>Gay: one page, 8.5" x 11", Midway 8 letterhead, Naples, Florida, July 14, 1980. In response to a letter asking about the Torpedo plane, in part: "...The TBD-1 had a compass and a plotting board. These, combined with a clock, were our navigational instruments..." Gay was a Naval pilot and a member of Torpedo Squadron 8 operating from the USS <I>Hornet</B></I> during WWII. At the Battle of Midway, he was the only one of 30 members of his squadron to survive. Very fine condition; mailing folds. <BR><BR>Also included in this lot is a Typed Letter Signed of Harold K. Johnson: one page, 7" x 8", United States Army Chief of Staff letterhead, Washington, D.C., February 10, 1968, answering an autograph request, original envelope included. Very fine condition.
