Bare-knuckle boxing champion (1831-1878) and a gang member in New York in the 1850s and later became a Democratic State Senator and U.S. Congressman from New York. Vintage purple fountain pen signature, “John Morrissey,” on an off-white 3.25 x 2 card. In fine condition, with a bit of scattered mild toning, and mounting remnants to reverse. One of only a handful of Morrissey examples we have encountered.
