Marshall,” one page, 4.75 x 7.5, February 16, 1816. Letter to an unidentified recipient. In full: “I am very intimately acquainted with the Father of Mr. Richard Barton & with his family. I am also acquainted with his character. He is an applicant for the warrant of midshipman in the navy of the United States.
