John Logan Signature and Mary Logan Autograph Letter Signed "Mrs. John A. Logan." This lot features two items that are related to the great General John Logan. The first is a 3.6" x 2.5" card signed by the general himself. It reads, "Yours Truly, John A. Logan, Maj. Gen." The second item is a letter written by Logan's wife Mary, it measures 5" x 6.1" and is handwritten on 2 pages. The date it was written was Jan. 10, 1901 from Washington, D.C. The content is patriotic and reads in part, "I also enclose an engraving of my son which we consider very fine and I should be glad if father & son could appear together as an object lesson in patriotism and to show the tirade on the Sons of great men is outrageous and unworthy of Americans." John Logan is well known for founding the holiday we celebrate as Memorial Day. He was also the premiere volunteer General in the Union Army. Both items are in Fine condition; the only problem being pencil notations on the letter and card. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
